Publicly owned yet commercially funded, Film4 develops and co-finances films, championing distinctive and innovative talent across UK and international filmmaking, from emerging voices to established auteurs. Since its inception in 1982, Film4-backed films have won 43 Oscars® and 97 BAFTAs.

Recent critically acclaimed titles include Oscar®, BAFTA and Venice Golden Lion winner Poor Things (Yorgos Lanthimos), Oscar®, BAFTA and Cannes Grand Prix winner The Zone of Interest (Jonathan Glazer), Savanah Leaf’s BAFTA-winning Earth Mama, Molly Manning Walker’s Un Certain Regard winner How to Have Sex, and Andrew Haigh’s BIFA-winning All of Us Strangers.

Recent releases include Kaouther Ben Hania’s The Voice of Hind Rajab, winner of the Silver Lion at Venice, Philippa Lowthorpe’s H is for Hawk, Oliver Hermanus’ The History of Sound, Dylan Southern’s The Thing with Feathers, box office success We Live in Time (John Crowley), Rose Glass’ Love Lies Bleeding, and Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s Hot Milk. Upcoming cinema releases include Mark Jenkin’s Rose of Nevada, Thea Gajic’s Surviving Earth, and Polly Findlay’s Midwinter Break.

The year opened with four World Premieres at Sundance from debut directors: Molly Manners’ Extra Geography, Rafael Manuel’s Filipiñana, Olive Nwosu’s Lady, and Joanna Natasegara’s The Disciple. Filipiñana, Lady and Ashley Walters’ Animol also premiered at Berlinale.

New productions include debut features from Alice Birch (Sweetsick), Jonathan Schey (Everybody Wants To F*ck Me) and Bijan Sheibani (The Arrival), alongside new work from Martin McDonagh (Wild Horse Nine), Andrew Haigh (A Long Winter), Tomas Alfredson (Séance on a Wet Afternoon), and the latest project from Mike Leigh.
