Tom Burke and Eve Hewson star in Lenny Abrahamson’s Film4-backed new film

Lenny Abrahamson’s new untitled film has begun production in Dublin, with Tom Burke and Eve Hewson leading the cast. The project, written and directed by Abrahamson, starts shooting on 2 March for Element Pictures.

Produced by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures, alongside Catherine Magee and Abrahamson, the film brings together a team behind some of the most celebrated recent Irish screen work. It is funded by Film4, High Frequency Entertainment, Screen Ireland and RTÉ, with A24 set to distribute in the United States, Elevation Pictures in Canada, and FilmNation Entertainment handling international sales.

Abrahamson, whose previous work includes the Academy Award winning Room, reunites with key creative collaborators from the Element Pictures television adaptations of Normal People and Conversations with Friends. The crew includes Production Designer Anna Rackard, Director of Photography Suzie Lavelle, Editor Nathan Nugent, Make Up Designer Sonia Dolan and Composer Stephen Rennicks. Costume Designer Eimer ní Mhaoldomhnaigh and Hair Stylist Orla Carroll also join the production, following their award-winning work on The Banshees of Inisherin.

Tom Burke was most recently seen in Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag and has previously starred in Furiosa, The Souvenir and the television series Strike. Eve Hewson’s recent film credits include John Carney’s Flora and Son, alongside leading roles in the television series The Perfect Couple and Bad Sisters. She will next appear in Steven Spielberg’s forthcoming Disclosure Day, set for release in June.

The new project continues Film4’s longstanding support of distinctive, director-led filmmaking and further strengthens its creative partnership with Element Pictures.
