The Motorcycle Diaries recounts the fascinating odyssey undertaken by Ernesto Che Guevara (Gael Garcia Bernal), then a 23 year-old medical student and his friend Alberto Granado (Roderigo de la Serna), traversing the continent of South America in the early 1950s. An inspiring tale of friendship and self-discovery, The Motorcycle Diaries was adapted from the two journals written by Che and Alberto on the road.

Awards

At the British Academy Film Awards 2005, The Motorcycle Diaries won the award for Best Film Music and Best Film Not In The English Language. The film also received nominations for Best Film, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Actor in a Leading Role (Gael Garcia Bernal), and Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Roderigo de la Serna).

The Motorcycle Diaries received the award for Best Original Song (Al Otro Lado Del Río) at the Academy Awards 2005. The film was also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay.
